IRIS ENVIRONMENTAL LABORATORY
SERVICES AND CAPABILITIES

EXPERTISE IN ASBESTOS

At IRIS Environmental Laboratories, we conduct initial analysis of bulk building materials to detect ASBESTOS content through Polarized Light Microscopy (PLM), which is approved by the EPA. We can determine the type of asbestos that’s present and quantify the percentage of asbestos in the form of point counts. Secondly, we can perform Phase Contrast Microscopy (PCM) on air filter samples to monitor asbestos conditions after, during, or prior to asbestos remediation. Our PCM analysts will give a time-weighted average of the concentration of asbestos fibers in the volume of air sampled. Last but not least, we are also experts in Transmission Electron Microscopy (TEM). Our team can determine low-level concentrations of asbestos in friable bulk building materials and non-friable organically bound materials.
